“Whether you are here because you enjoy my writing or just want to know more about me, welcome! I am glad you came!”~J.C.
Who is J.C. Alexander?
J.C. Alexander is my pen name. My real name is Jennifer. I am an only child who was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. I graduated community college in 2004 with a degree in Graphic Design and married my high-school sweetheart, Mark, in 2005. In August of 2010, we welcomed our son Alexander (hence my pen name) . He is the light of our lives and an inspiration in everything I do, which is why I chose to combine our names for my pen name!
When did you start writing?
As far back as I can remember, I always had an overactive imagination and I loved to make-believe. My stuffed animals went on epic journeys and my Barbies acted out soap-operas that rivaled day time television (ask my best friend). I wrote my first short story at the age of six about a dog that runs away from home. I also illustrated it myself! It wasn’t my best work, but everyone seemed impressed I could think so creatively at such a young age.
I started taking my writing seriously around the age of eleven after I was given my first “real” novel by V.C. Andrews called Dawn. I couldn’t put it down and I read three of her series after it. I still believe her drag through the mud drama and my love for it are what inspired me to start writing seriously. I suddenly realized it was okay to write about dramatic scenarios that involved romance, betrayal, friendship, and love.
I wrote books on notebook paper until I was fourteen when I got my first computer. I continued to write stories through high school, and after I graduated college I began writing my first serious novel, A King’s Trust in 2004. I put it aside for a number of years after trying to publish it traditionally with out much luck. Since then, I have grown interested in self publishing. I released my novella, Red Deception, under the pen-name J.C. Murtagh in December of 2011 and my first full length New Adult Novel, Down to Business will be released on December 22, 2013.
What do you have planned for the future?
Since the future of self publishing is looking bright, I will continue to use it as my platform of choice. I have seen others become great successes in it and I look forward to what the future brings for me. I am currently working on the second book in the Down to Business series called Taking Care of Business. It’s due out Summer of 2014.
